Harpa Privacy Policy

Harpa: Harmonica Practice, by Nomad Devs. Effective date: 23 October 2026.

In short

Harpa is a harmonica practice app. It does not collect, store, share or sell personal information. It has no accounts, no ads and no analytics, and it does not send any data off your device. Harpa makes no network connections: everything stays on your device.

Microphone

If you turn on "Check me" or "Learn by ear", Harpa uses the microphone to hear which note you play and to score it. The sound is analysed live on your device and immediately discarded. It is never recorded, saved or sent anywhere. Voice commands also use the microphone: they are recognised on your device and the audio is not kept. You can refuse the microphone permission; the rest of the app works without it.

On iPhone and iPad it works the same way: the sound is analysed on the device only and never leaves it.

Data on your device

Your settings, the songs you save or paste, and your best scores are stored locally on your device. Uninstalling the app deletes them.

If Android backup is on for your device, Android may include your saved songs, settings and best scores in your own Google backup so they come back on a new phone. That backup belongs to your Google account; we never see it.

On iPhone and iPad, the same saved data is included in your normal device backup (iCloud or a backup on your computer), so it comes back when you restore that backup. That backup belongs to your Apple account or your computer; we never see it.

Sharing, export and import

"Recommend Harpa to a friend" and "Export" open your phone's share sheet only when you tap them, and you choose where the content goes. "Import" reads only the file you pick. "Print / Save as PDF" opens your device's print window. "Rate Harpa" opens the store's own rating window (Google Play or the App Store); your rating goes to the store, not to us. Harpa sends nothing by itself.

Optional tip

Harpa offers an optional tip of about US$4 (shown in your local currency). It unlocks no features; it only adds a small "Supporter" badge in the app, and everything in the app stays free. The payment is handled entirely by Google Play Billing: Google processes it under its own terms and privacy policy, and we never receive your card or payment details.

On iPhone and iPad, the tip is paid through Apple's App Store in-app purchase. Apple processes it under its own terms and privacy policy, and the app never sees your card or payment details.

Watch

Harpa has a watch app for Apple Watch and for Wear OS. It shows your song list, follows the song playing on your phone, can start and stop it, and has a wrist metronome. The metronome and the songs already on the watch also work without the phone. The song list is kept on the watch.

The watch only talks to your own phone. Apple Watch uses Apple's link between the watch and the iPhone (WatchConnectivity). On Wear OS, Harpa uses the Wear OS Data Layer only with a phone connected nearby (Bluetooth or local Wi-Fi), never through the cloud, and the watch app has no internet permission. Nothing is sent to us.

You can also give voice commands on the watch. A Wear OS watch recognises them itself, offline, with its on-device recogniser. If it has none, it sends a short clip (up to 3 seconds) to your phone over the same link, and the phone recognises it on the device without saving it. On Apple Watch, the watch sends a short clip (a few seconds) to your iPhone over the same link; the iPhone recognises it on the device and deletes it. The audio never leaves your devices.

On iPhone and iPad, Harpa asks for two permissions:
